What is vocational rehabilitation?

Vocational rehabilitation aims to assist people return to work after accident, illness or injury through a process of assessment, rehabilitation planning, co-ordination and review. A case manager co-ordinates and implements recommended rehabilitation strategies and liaises with the workplace to ensure that a safe and sustainable return to work can be achieved.

What does the service involve?

Our vocational rehabilitation service provision can include (but is not limited to): initial assessment, development and costing of rehabilitation plans, co-ordination & case management of rehabilitation plan strategies, workplace assessment, ergonomic assessment, employer liaison, development and monitoring of graded return to work programs, transferable skills analysis, psychometric testing and job seeking assistance.

Are there any diagnoses that you can't work with?

We can work with all diagnoses. Our vocational rehabilitation consultants have assisted people return to work with a wide variety of diagnoses including acquired brain injury, anxiety, arthritis, back problems, cancer, chronic fatigue syndrome, degenerative conditions, depression, heart, learning disabilities, mental health issues, multiple sclerosis, multiple injuries, orthopaedic, psychosis, stress, stroke and spinal injuries.

What information can you provide for new customers?

If you are a potential customer we would be very happy to provide you with our brochure, service descriptions & prices, referral form and sample case studies. If you represent a group of customers we would be pleased to negotiate further information to fit in with your existing practices and requirements. We can offer presentations and introductions to our services for key members of staff. Please contact us or phone for a chat.

What is the referral process?

Referrals can be made either on-line or by mail. Once your referral has been allocated (either by you or us) the consultant will contact you to clarify your needs & request further information, if necessary and to inform you of their visit date. Our brochure outlines the referral process including standards and timeframes.

How do you compare with other rehabilitation providers?

We have an excellent track record in the provision of rehabilitation and job retention assessments, realistic rehabilitation planning and case management and negotiating with employers concerning graded return to work plans and work place accommodations. Our return to work rate is approximately 70% of people assessed as benefiting from rehabilitation intervention.

Are there any referrers that you can't work with?

Our consultant's successful work with a wide variety of referrers including charities, employers, government departments, government pilot programs, insurers, local authorities and NHS trusts.

What are the cost implications?

Evidence based research supports the cost savings of using vocational rehabilitation. We would be pleased to provide a personalised return on investment report for you if you are considering using our service for your organisation.

Does Rehabilitation Network Ltd have a code of conduct?

Our consultants work under their professional code of conduct, the code of best practice on rehabilitation, early intervention and medical treatment in personal injury claims and the rehabilitation practitioner's guide.

How flexible can you be in providing your service?

We accept direct referrals from insurers and employers and also work under contractual arrangements with other service providers to provide rehabilitation for their outsourced referrals.

What management information is available?

We have developed a systemised management information system and provide a number of our customers with complex statistical and feedback reports. This information can inform organisational strategy and working practice.

What if I have a key member of staff who needs help before going off sick - can you help?

We have an excellent track record in the provision of successful job retention programs. These programs are aimed at staff members who are still at work but have performance related issues due to illness, injury or disability.

What if I have a member of staff who has returned after L/T sick but isn't back to full speed?

We can assist staff members who have returned to work after a long sickness absence by assessing their additional rehabilitation needs and recommending appropriate stategies and workplace accommodations.

Is this service on a retained basis or do you pay case by case?

Usually our service is paid for on a case by case basis however we would be happy to negotiate a retainer and appropriate fee structure.

I'd like to have something like this run internally - how can you assist?

We can help you to develop your rehabilitation systems and processes, recruit suitable professional staff and provide in-house training and mentoring. Our consultants are experienced at establishing internal rehabilitation services and have assisted employers, insurers, housing associations, NHS Trusts and charities in this process.

What is your success rate?

Our success rate is approximately 70% return to work, in either an employee's own or a suitable alternative occupation, for people actively participating in vocational rehabilitation.

I have a diverse workforce- how do you deal with cultural issues?

Our consultants come from a range of cultural backgrounds and some are bilingual. If we do not currently have a consultant(s) with the cultural experience that suits your employee profile we will endeavour to recruit.
